Who We Are
DC704 is Charlotte’s independent DEF CON chapter, uniting security enthusiasts, hackers, and tinkerers who thrive on curiosity and creative problem-solving. The group shares a passion for learning, exploring, and advancing cybersecurity together.

What is a DEF CON Group?
DEF CON Groups (DCGs) are local chapters inspired by DEF CON, the annual hacker conference in Las Vegas that's been running since 1993. There are over 270 DCGs worldwide, often identified by their local area code. These groups exist to bring like-minded people together locally to discuss technology, security topics, and the alternate applications of modern tech. Meetings are open to anyone and designed to help you learn new things, meet new people, and provide cohesion within the hacker culture.
What we're about:
Open discussion of security, technology, and alternate applications of modern tech (properly referred to as 'hacking').
Monthly meetups, presentations, and hands-on learning.
CTFs, workshops, and community collaboration.
Mentorship and skill sharing—no matter where you are in your journey.
